I’ve been working out with a personal trainer for almost a year now, and I’m happy to say I’m 40 pounds lighter and much stronger because of it. I fit in clothes I never dreamed of fitting in again. A little history here…I’ve struggled with weight my whole life, with large gains and losses, but I feel like I’m finally doing it the right way. In fact, my biggest drop in weight was 80 pounds about 5 years ago, but I gained half that back.
So what’s my point? Well, I have about 10-15 pounds to lose before I hit my goal, so when my personal trainer says ‘We’re gonna try something different to shock your system’, naturally I freak. He wants me to be a guinea pig on a diet plan where I can lose lots of weight in a minimum of 10 days. One of his employees tried it for 7 days and lost 17.
The diet is called Master Cleanse where you drink nothing but a concoction of lemon or lime juice, maple syrup and cayenne pepper mixed with water. And there’s absolutely no cheating.
I did it for 5 days and lost 12 pounds. I really wanted to go 10 days, but I quit–not because I was starving, but from the lightheaded feeling. I didn’t even think my driving was very safe. I was also afraid to workout because I could pass out. My trainer was glad I stopped when I did, and now I’ve gained the 12 back and hitting the gym hard to drop those 10-15 pounds for good.
Has anyone ever tried the Master Cleanse? Now it’s been a couple weeks since the diet, and personally I wouldn’t do it again unless I was off work and had absolutely nothing else to do with my life but that diet.
