Any guesses? Merriam-Webster went towards technology this year with their selection.

woot“W00t,” a hybrid of letters and numbers used by gamers as an exclamation of happiness or triumph, topped all other terms in the Springfield-based dictionary publisher’s online poll for the word that best sums up 2007, according to an AP article.

The official definition is: expressing joy (it could be after a triumph, or for no reason at all); similar in use to the word “yay”.

Although one of my favorite web sites is called woot.com.  They offer a deal a day and it changes everyday at midnight.  Sometimes they have a “Woot Off” where they will sell many things back-to-back throughout the day.  I believe they are based in St. Louis.
