My boss Allan has been planning my visit to Gannett’s corporate headquarters since I started working at WUSA9. He wanted to make sure I spent time with Kerry Oslund, VP of Digital Media, Rob Mennie, VP/Senior News Executive for Gannett, and Dave Lougee, President of Gannett’s Broadcast Division. So today was the big day to get the grand tour and meet the right people.
Since I never drove to McLean, VA before, I left an hour early just to be safe. Glad I did, because I’m not used to this D.C. traffic (t). Once I arrived at the security gates, driving up to the building is gorgeous.
After walking through the revolving front doors, it takes a good minute or so to walk to the receptionist desk. You could have a big Catholic wedding just in their lobby it’s so big! I met Allan at the front desk and we proceeded upstairs to meet with everyone.
I’ll leave the conversations I’ve had with the three private. I did spend a couple hours with Kerry, though, and we shared some great ideas and vision for the broadcast Web sites. Afterward, he gave me a tour of the building, including the many conference rooms, cafeteria, full-size gym, and he pointed out the tennis courts on top of one of their buildings.
