Thought I’d start a little tip here on my blog, because I’m really proud of it. Maybe others are doing this, but it’s a first for me, so here goes.
Instead of taking the salad dressing bottle and squeezing it in circles over your salad (not knowing how much you’re really adding), try squeezing half of what you would normally use into a small cup or on a small plate, then lightly dip the lettuce into dressing.
That way you get the dressing taste without all the dressing calories. Because we all know the dressing is what kills the healthy part of salads.
And if you’re into fat-free or reduced fat dressing, this is even better.
I did this trick today while eating my Salmon Caesar Salad today for lunch. I know I would’ve gone through that entire cup had I doused my salad with it. The bits of cheese mixed with the pepper and lettuce tasted great, and I hardly used the Caesar dressing. I think I used 1/3 of the cup!
I’ll call it au jus style salad eating.
This has been health eating tip from a guy who will eventually lose the title I gave myself in the headline. I’ll be happy if I can come up with more tips, but this is a good start.
