For many years, I kept hearing about how Ellen was going to get a limo for her birthday, and it happened!  It was a party I couldn’t miss and flew back home just for the weekend to be there with her and the family.  Ellen, Erin, Ashley, and the McDermott family all hopped in the limo for the 3-hour ride.  We cruised down to Applebee’s in Fenton to get a birthday drink (and lost the limo driver only to find him inside the Wal-Mart reading tabloids), took a ride downtown to the riverfront and got pics in front of the Gateway Arch to prove it, then back home.

We had dinner, opened gifts and had dessert with the family.  The “Limo Cake” was created by my cousin Laura McDermott.  Afterwards, the kids hit the pinata for a chance to win candies and some cash mom always stashes in the boot.  This is a great family tradition!

Happy 50th Ellen!
