Lindsey joined me Friday night after work, and together we ran 4 miles along the National Mall in Washington, DC. There were tents set up everywhere in preps for the National Book Festival taking place tomorrow.
We didn’t get started until 8:30pm. What’s nice about running after dark is that the temps get cooler as you go. The trail was well lit the entire time, and I did really well!
My four miles was the exact same as Tuesday’s run. I ran faster than I have all week. I feel safe, too. The only problems I have running the Mall is the time it takes to walk to the Metro from work, take the Red Line to Metro Center, and transfer to the Blue Line. That can take 45 minutes, especially in rush hour. Then there’s the same routine back, since my car is in work’s parking garage. But, the scenery is worth it, at least for now.
The data collected by my Garmin Forerunner 405 GPS watch shows a nice easy run towards the U.S. Capitol, The Washington Monument, The World War II Memorial, and The Lincoln Memorial. Time flies on this run since there’s so much to look at. And avoiding the tourists and running kids keeps me on my feet too.

Thoughts:
Nice run on a Friday night! But getting there really late means I’m not getting home until 11:00pm at night!
What I’ll remember most:
Running with Lindsey when we first took off. She wasn’t in the best of moods, but when she looked up and saw the U.S. Capitol all lit up, she got inspired and was excited about the run.
