This Could Be A Worthy Blog Series

This Could Be A Worthy Blog Series

I saw this book repinned on Pinterest called 1001 Whiskies You Must Taste Before You Die. If I tested three whiskies a week, that would take almost 6.5 years to complete. This could be an interesting blog series. I’d have to learn proper tasting methods between now and May 15, 2012 when the book arrives. [PRE-ORDER [...]

My Introduction to Celldweller’s Music

Audio MP3
Audio MP3

My good friend Rana June, known around the world as the iPad DJ, introduced me to Celldweller’s music, and how we got there was an unexpected travel through various social media links. We were talking about her Twitter page @ranajune and I had clicked on her recent images since we were talking about all the events that have taken place over the past year or so.

@ranajune: This is me doing my best @celldweller35 impression

We stumbled upon this yFrog photo of Rana with hot red hair and she started laughing hysterically, telling me how she looked like her friend Celldweller. She asked if I had heard of his music, and I had not. Rana and I have nearly the same taste in music, so we searched SoundCloud and found one of his remixes for Asking Alexandria’s A Lesson Never Learned (Celldweller Remix).

The studio production on this mix was mind blowing, given the sampling, real instruments, driving bass and dubstep influence, hardcore metal sounds and voices with actual lyric. This was big and thick and something I knew I’d have to listen to 100 times to get the full scope of the production.

My Ignite DC Proposal

My Ignite DC Proposal

I  just submitted my Ignite DC proposal. I’ve been bombarding my social networks with Instagram pics, mostly as a big exeriment with the social platform, but too many great stories have come from my experience. So, I felt the need to present this to a larger community, and it made perfect sense to propose this to [...]

Super Bowl and Social TV

What will the trends say about how social media integrated with the Super Bowl? I look forward to reading the articles tomorrow morning. For me, I kept it low key this year, since my iPhone’s screen had a short in it over the weekend, which turned it into a paperweight at the worse times. After [...]

Lawn restoration on the National Mall in front of the U.S. Capitol

Lawn restoration on the National Mall in front of the U.S. Capitol

Ground crews are restoring the Mall lawn and making other improvements. The work includes the installation of engineered soil medium to resist soil compaction, durable turf varieties and granite edging. New sustainable systems to improve soil drainage and collect stormwater for irrigation will reduce the use of potable water and help improve regional water quality. [...]

Road Trip to Luray Caverns

Road Trip to Luray Caverns

Lindsey surprised me with a road trip to Luray Caverns for the holiday weekend. She kept it a secret most the way along the trip. I finally figured it out when we started taking back roads, and the signs became quite obvious. I’m no stranger to caves. I’ve spent most my life in Missouri, which [...]

When you lose your voice…

I was sick last week and stayed at home for a couple days, then the lack of voice carried on for another week. Just my luck, this is the time when I needed my voice the most, since: I met my web producer’s parents for the first time, as they flew in from San Diego [...]

Concert Review: Tiesto DESTROYS at the DC Armory

The armory was the perfect ambience for what was to be one of the biggest shows on Tiesto‘s tour with a sold out crowd of nearly 10,000 trance fans. While Tiesto is just a DJ, he is like no other DJ the world has ever seen. He’s played at the opening ceremony of the Olympics [...]

Instagram – Review: My Favorite iPhone App of 2011 So Far

Instagram – Review: My Favorite iPhone App of 2011 So Far

I never expected my favorite social media app of 2011 would be based on photography. With all the data aggregating and mining going on in app development, I expected to fall in love with a smarter news aggregator or some other time-saving tool. After using this program for a few days, I’m impressed with its [...]

Making Hummus For The First Time

Making Hummus For The First Time

I’m not much of a chef, but part of me wants to be one of those guys who can really whip up a great dish. I’m not saying this is my launch into a newfound hobby, but I’m logging my attempt at making hummus in order to perfect the taste each time I make it. [...]

First Evernote Meetup in Washington, DC

I’m an avid user of Evernote. Since the first day the iPhone has given me death grip hands, their icon has been on my first home screen page. I use Evernote mostly to transfer notes from my work desktop to my iPhone for meetings. It’s part of my mission to become entirely paper-free in the [...]

‘Release the Kraken’ Meme

You know what’s been missing from the internet lately? A nice, satisfying meme. Something timely and simple to use, that delivers on its ridiculous premise over and over again. And wouldn’t you know it Google Trends is all over it today, repurposing the catchiest line from the Clash of the Titans trailer for our selfish [...]
